How To Get Influencers For Your Niche | Influencers Research Guide

Any influencer marketer will tell you: finding influencers, with personalities suited to your brand is difficult and time-consuming.

It is not enough to spot the fake influencers who buy followers. You have to do a lot of research to find those who have a truly engaged community, whose lifestyle matches your products and services.

We can understand that this can intimidate more than one.

How do you know which keywords and hashtags to use in your search? How to find the niches of activities, that is to say, the points of concentration of beauty influencers, travel influencers, food influencers, or lifestyle influencers?

This article answers your questions. We explore the top 5 influencer marketing industries (beauty, fashion, travel, fitness, and lifestyle) and give you a lot of tips on your Google searches, in order to properly identify the influencers in your field.

We will discuss in particular:

  • Using your brand identity to motivate your searches
  • Tips and tricks for finding the right influencers via Google
  • The tools to find the right keywords and hashtags
  • The following industry-specific hashtags and online communities:

Use your brand image for your influencer research

We will see later how to spot in particular the good Instagram influencers, YouTubers, and Facebook influencers.

But before you dive into keyword research, you should already know which hashtags and keywords match your brand.

Study your brand and its missions. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Who is my target? What interests these people, what are they passionate about?
  • What is my brand image? What are its characteristics? Attitudes?
  • What are the strong values for my clients? Why do they choose my brand over another?

Come up with a list of adjectives that describe your brand and your customer base. For example :

  • inspiring, motivating, enriching
  • intelligent, cultured
  • chic, elegant, trendy
  • critical, engaged
  • quirky, eccentric, alternative
  • marginal, daring
  • bohemian hippie
  • free, open-minded
  • ecological, green, responsible
  • avant-garde, at the forefront
  • creative, designer, producer
  • disruptive, innovative

Pro Tip: Write this list down on a piece of paper for future reference. A list like this can evolve, but it will always be useful.

You can then use these terms as keywords and hashtags when searching for influencers on different channels.

For example, a green and responsible clothing store might start by searching for “new ethical fashion influencers” on Google.

Adjust your search terms to include different types of influencers, as well as different channels that you are willing to market to, such as blogging, vlogging, Snapchat, Twitter, or whatever.

Once you have these terms, you can use them to:

  • In-depth Google searches
  • Keywords and hashtag searches on some social media channels
  • Research on platforms and applications specific to influencer marketing

Pro Tip: Maintain a detailed list with contact info, profile links, and other notes. This way, you’ll easily follow who you’ve contacted and when. We have created this spreadsheet for you to download to help you.

First and foremost, remember that finding influencers for your brand, products and services takes time .

But don’t lose patience!

If you do this search manually, you will probably spend several hours there . Fortunately, there are a few options built into Google advanced searches that will come in handy.

Use Google suggestions

You are unlikely to find everything you need on the first page of search results. Skip the front page to find nuggets and micro-influencers that haven’t explored yet.

Use the Google suggestions that appear below the search box to broaden your inspiration, as well as the footer of each SERP (search engine results pages).

This is what it looks like:

Using search operators

Do you have the feeling that you are missing out on something?

Google Search Operators are magic little shortcuts that allow you to specify and target your searches to get the result you really care about.

Here are some operators to boost your searches:

Operators Function Examples
“” Each result includes the exact terms enclosed in the quotation marks, not just the synonyms. ethical fashion bloggers
OR (in capital letters) Show results for one term or the other (these operators are interchangeable). ethical fashion OR responsible fashion
() Combines different terms and controls how Google performs searches. fashion influencer (responsible OR ethics)
Exclude any term with a hyphen so as not to see the results linked to this term. ethical fashion -instagram
site: Only shows the results of the web pages of a particular site. ethical fashion website: instagram.com

And you can use more than one per search.

For example, I’m looking here for articles about ethical or responsible fashion influencers, but I don’t want results about slow fashion:

Adjust search settings

Use the built-in Google search options for better results. My two favorites are:

Influencer search with a date criterion

You are not interested in the star influencers of 2014. This is why searching with a date criterion can be interesting.

The option of customizable dates in search preferences has been removed by Google, but you can now use an operator to filter results by date.

It will suffice to write in the search bar: “after YYYY-MM-DD” to obtain results over a given period.

Change your geographic position

Google automatically filters your results based on your location. If you want to access popular influencers in other regions, you can change your settings.

Go to settings, in the right corner of your search bar. Then go to “settings”. Scroll down to the region of your choice and save.

Tools to find influencers, keywords and hashtags

  • Inswip
  • Ubersuggest from Neil Patel
  • RiteTag
  • Hashtagify.me

Inswip

Inswip is a startup launched a few months ago by a drop shipper. The application allows you to find influencers according to their niches in several international markets. It also allows you to see how many product placements are made per day with this influencer and to estimate whether an influencer is profitable.

Finally, thanks to the application, you can also see which stores are partnering with influencers, just to see the competition and if your niche is saturated.

Ubersuggest from Neil Patel

As the name suggests, Ubersuggest is a great tool for getting keyword ideas based on your own. Enter them in the search bar and you’ll see a list of similar ideas appear, along with the related traffic (how many people search for that keyword each month).

It also shows you the top websites that rank for those same keywords. This will help you know who is talking about the same topics as you.

RiteTag

RiteTag analyzes selected photos or text from the web and gives you matching hashtags. You can sign up through your Facebook, Twitter or Buffer account or install the Chrome extension. Right click on the image in question and then on “get suggestions.”

Honestly, RiteTag is very effective in English, but less so in French. So use the English terms or check if the French versions are used.

Say you are a baker wishing to get more visits. Use RiteTag on a unicorn cupcake photo and you will get the following suggestions:

  • #foodie
  • #Instacake
  • #cuppies
  • #icing

It even offers hashtags specific to different platforms such as #instacake for Instagram. Research each of these platforms for even better targeting.

Click on the related hashtags to find out more.

Now let’s take a look at how to find the right hastags for your industry, whether it’s beauty, fashion, travel, fitness, or food.
